(Our nation honors her sons and daughters who answered the call to defend a country they never knew and a people they never met)”이고 또 하나는 “자유는 공짜로 얻어지는 것이 아니다! (Freedom is not free!)”

(Republic of Korea honors Korean War veterans who fought together with us to defend our country they never knew and our people they never met) ”이며,

(Freedom is not Free!)”,

(We go together!)”

Ambassador Harry Harris, General Robert B. Abrams, Commander, UNC/CFC/USFK,

General Choi, Byung Hyuk, Deputy Commander of CFC, General(R) Kim Byung-kwan, President of Council on Korea U.S. Security Studies, and distinguished guests who are present on this special occasion!

Marking the 70th anniversary of the Korean War, thank you for coming together on this meaningful celebration today to commemorate the U.N. soldiers, and particularly U.S. soldiers who had fought in the Korean War.

Whenever we visit the Korean War Veterans Memorial Park in Washington D.C., our hearts are strongly moving by two deeply touching slogan engraved on the site. One is "Our nation honors her sons and daughters who answered the call to defend a country they never knew and a people they never met ", and the other is “Freedom is not free.”

Today, we are gathered here at the War Memorial of Korea in Seoul to pay tribute to the sacrifices who fought alongside our Korean troops to defend this country.

The three lines that deserve to be once again carved deeply into our hearts are:

First, Republic of Korea honors Korean War veterans who fought together with us to defend our country they never knew and our people they never met .

Second, "Freedom is not free!"

Third, "Let's go together! (We go together!')

The alliance between Republic of Korea and the United States was forged by blood on the crucibles of Korean War, and will continue to grow stronger as it has for the past 67 years in enabling Korea to stand tall, and being recognized as history’s proudest alliance. We will go together forever.

Thank you again, fallen heros.

Please rest in peace. And again, thank you.
